Sharon Stone and Andy Garcia filming in Arefu, Romania, villagers eagerly await stars' arrival
Hollywood actors Sharon Stone and Andy Garcia will come to Romania at the beginning of August to shoot the movie 'What about love'. The two, starring as parents of one of the main characters in the movie, will arrive in the north of Arges country on August 5 to shoot on the famous Romanian Transfagarasan mountain road , in the area of the village Arefu, according to Castel Film.
Some scenes in the film will be shot in the Bucharest Old Town, as well as in Hunedoara, but the bulk the movie will be set against the Romanian mountainous background and at Castel Film Studios. Producers will spend six weeks shooting most of the film in Romania, before moving to Spain on September25 .
“It is a great area and we are eagerly awaiting for Sharon Stone, we have the Poienari citadel, we have the Vidraru dam, the Transfagarasan, everything is blessed by God and we know how to be wonderful hosts, we proved it in the past,” said the Arefu mayor Gheorghe Stoican.
One villager told the media he also eagerly waits to meet Sharon Stone. When asked how he will greet her, he said “I love you, fa!', using the misogynist pejorative 'fa' for addressing a woman.
The movie will also be shot in Spain, where the story of the two main characters, an American – Spanish couple continues with another leg of their European journey.
In Romania, production will be handled by Castel Film, which is currently looking for Romanian actors for 10 parts in the movie.
Romanians from the Transylvanian region had a chance to see actor Nicholas Cage, who also shot some scenes of Ghost Rider II on Transfagarasan in 2010.
Sharon Stone, best known for her roles in the erotic thriller Basic Instinct and in science fiction film Total Recall, will be for the first time in Romania while Andy Garcia, who had parts in Ocean's Eleven and its sequels and in The Godfather: Part III, was previously in Romania working on Modigliani in 2004.
'What About Love', Klaus Menzel's independent medium budget feature will premiere in 2013.
