Zara to open high street store in pedestrian area of Romanian city Sibiu

Spanish retailer Inditex has leased a 1,500 sqm building in the Romanian city of Sibiu, where it will open a Zara store, the third high street store under this brand in Romania. The building, on Nicolae Balcescu St downtown Sibiu is owned by a subsidiary of BCR and has an underground level, a ground floor and two floors, and will undergo renovation. The lease has been intermediated by DTZ Echinox.

The new Zara store is the retailer's third high street store in Romania after Bucharest and Pitesti and is located in Sibiu's pedestrian area, in a villa which will be renovated.

Inditex has 57 stores in Romania under the brands Zara, Pull&Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Massimo Dutti. Zara had sales of EUR 58 million in 2010 in Romania, up from EUR 45.8 million in 2009. Its profit last year was of EUR 11.5 million.

Inditex' net sales reached EUR 6.2 billion in the first half of 2011 worldwide.
