Native American dance group start tour in Romania

Native American group Yellow Bird Apache Dancers will have a series of concerts in Romania in the next two weeks. The concerts will take place in Sibiu, Targu-Jiu and the capital Bucharest, and are part of a tour organized by the U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Office.

Yellow Bird is a professional family dance company based in Phoenix, Arizona. They include many champion dancers. Ken Duncan, a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, leads the group that specialize in presentations that celebrate the unique spirit of the American Indian.

The Yellow Bird Apache Dancers have been touring the world for 25 years promoting the American Indian culture. Their shows include the famous hoop dancing. Talon Duncan, one of the group’s members, is a junior hoop dancing world champion.

Their tour in Romania starts in Sibiu, on June 18, at the Astra National Museum. They will also have a show in Sibiu’s Small Square, on June 19.

On Saturday and Sunday (June 20-21) they move to Bucharest’s Village Museum, and on Monday and Tuesday (June 22-23) they will go to Targu-Jiu.
