Tickets on sale for third most important performing arts festival in Europe: Romania's Sibiu International Theater Festival

23 April 2014

International theater lovers are expected in the Romanian city of Sibiu in the beginning of June for a new edition of the Sibiu International Theater Festival. Tickets are already on sale – 20,000 of them available for prices ranging between RON 10 and 40 (the equivalent of EUR 2.2 to EUR 8.8).

Over 350 events are scheduled to take place in Sibiu between June 6 and 15 this year, gathering participants from 70 countries. The organizers expect 62,000 viewers each day of the festival.

The event is the third most important performing arts festival in Europe, after the ones in Edinburgh and Avignon.

While entry will be free for open air events and special events – such as special conferences, film screenings and reading sessions, tickets for the other events can be bought from the Theater Agency in Sibiu, the national network of Domo, Germanos, Orange and Vodafone shops, in Humanitas and Carturesti bookshops, as well as online.

The festival is at its 21st edition this year. Last year, 600,000 visitors were expected, and the festival was organized with the help of 300 volunteers from Romania, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and France. Over 200 journalists from Romania and abroad provided coverage for the event.
