Sweden is guest country at Bucharest’s Bookfest book fair this May

Sweden is the guest country at this year’s edition of the Bookfest International Book Fair, which will take place in Bucharest between May 24 and May 28.

As a guest country, Sweden will schedule 20 events focusing on education, children’s literature, gender equality, social inclusion, and the promotion of diversity. In the space that Sweden is taking up at the fair, there will be a Kids Corner, where various activities for children will take place.

Contemporary Swedish fiction is among the top 10 most translated in the world, and Swedish authors have been translated in more than 50 languages overall.

Nine Swedish writers, illustrators, editors and cultural managers will be present at the fair, where the country participates with the slogan “Sweden: Creating Stories.”

Access to Bookfest and to the events part of the fair is free. Some 350 events, ranging from book launches, debates and film screenings, are planned for this edition, the organizers announced.
