Streets shut down for car traffic due to upcoming protest in Victoriei Square- see what areas to avoid

Car traffic in Bucharest will be impacted today by the strike which is expected to gather 60,000 people in Victoriei Square to protest against the austerity measures announced by the Government.

You should avoid passing through Victoriei Square, Lascar Catargiu Blvd., Aviatorilor Blvd., Nicolae Balcescu Blvd., Gheorghe Magheru Blvd. Certain streets will be completely shut down for traffic: Soseaua Kiseleff between Arcul de Triumf and Victoriei Square. You will be able to pass through Victoriei Square but only on two lanes on each way both from Aviatorilor Blvd. to Lascar Catargiu Blvd. and Calea Victoriei, and from Lascar Catargiu Blvd. and Iancu de Hunedoara Blvd. to Aviatorilor Blvd.

Poligrafiei Blvd. And Jiului St. will have one lane closed on both ways, same as Aviatorilor Blvd, between Aviatorilor Square and Mircea Eliade Blvd.

If you're coming from the North of Bucharest, you should try one of the following routes:

- Piata Presei Libere - Piata Arcului de Triumf - Bd. Maresal Al. Averescu - Bd. Ion Mihalache - Str. Buzesti - Calea Grivitei - Calea Victoriei

- Piata Presei Libere - Piata Arcului de Triumf - Bd. Maresal Prezan - Piata Charles de Gaulle - Calea Dorobantilor - Bd. Dacia - Piata Romana - Calea Victoriei

For those coming from the South of the city, try out these alternative routes:

-Bd. I.C. Bratianu - Piata Universitatii - Bd. Carol I - Cal. Mosilor - P-ta. Bucur Obor - Sos. Stefan cel Mare - Bd. Iancu de Hunedoara - Pasajul Victoriei

- Bd. I.C. Bratianu - P-ta. Universitatii - Bd. Carol I - Cal. Mosilor - P-ta. Bucur Obor - Sos. Stefan cel Mare - Cal. Dorobantilor - P-ta. Charles de Gaulle
