Romania's new business minister to promote prevention instead of penalties

05 January 2017

Florin Jianu, the new minister for business, trade and entrepreneurship, plans to promote the Prevention Law for the business environment as soon as possible, so it can enter into force in the first quarter of this year.

The law will be valid for all companies, not only for the small and medium-sized companies, Jianu said, reports local Capital.ro. The law requires that, before taking any punitive measure against a company, authorities first need to apply a prevention measure.

He also spoke about the necessity to support small and medium-sized companies with access to financing. Currently, only the large companies benefit from state aid programs, Jianu added.

He said that he agreed with the increase in the minimum wage, but that the authorities also needed to pay attention to companies that are thus in the danger to lose work places.
