Romania’s credit institutions reach EUR 6.7 bln share capital

31 August 2015

The Romanian credit institutions’ share capital reached EUR 6.7 billion in June this year, up by 9.8% in real terms compared to the end of 2014. Foreign-owned banks accounted for most of the increase, which reflects the attention that some foreign investors still give to the Romanian banking market.

The value of the aggregated net asset reached EUR 82 billion in June, up 1% in real terms compared to December last year, reports local Economica.net.

The Romanian banking system didn’t record any changes in the first half of 2015, except for the completion of the acquisition of Volksbank by Banca Transilvania. The number of banks stayed at 40, according to the Romanian National Bank.
