Romania to join UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination System

01 September 2016

Romania will take steps to become a member state in the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination System (UNDAC).

The Government passed yesterday a memorandum on this, under the proposal of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU).

If Romania is admitted in the system, the Department for Emergency Situations will be able to connect to the international network of managers for emergency situations. Becoming a member will allow the Romanian - Urban Search and Rescue team to coordinate international teams in an affected state.

Romania needs to open a mission account of USD 50,000 to become part of the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination System. The funds will be used by the Romanian experts when they will take part at the UNDAC missions.
