Romania is guest country at this year's Vienna Design Week

05 April 2017

Romania will be the guest country at this year’s edition of the Vienna Design Week, an event taking place from September 29 to October 8.

Vienna Design Week is Austria´s largest design festival, and takes place in a variety of locations throughout Vienna. Under its concept, it aims to open up creative processes and give scope for experimentation. The festival, at its 11th edition this year, is curated by Lilli Hollein.

Previous guest countries at the event were Poland, Holland, Switzerland, Spain, Hungary, France, and the Czech Republic.

The Vienna Design Week is a curated festival, and the various events part of the schedule focus on the design of products, furniture, industry, graphics, social themes and architecture. Besides the curated formats of Passionswege, Debut, Citywork, and Education, the range of topics are also extended through participating program partners.

At the same time, the event sees itself as a festival for and of the public, aiming to make design accessible to a broad audience. The Guided Tours in the program offer a low- threshold access for festival visitors and a comprehensive view of the wide-ranging design focused program, according to the organizers.

Almost all activities and events in the festival’s program are free.
