Romania can send 2,184 troops in missions abroad

Romania will be able to send in missions and operations abroad 1,401 military and civilians from the Romanian Army and 783 soldiers and police officers from the Interior Ministry in 2017, according to the decision of the Defense National Council (CSAT).

They will be able to participate in missions and operations led by NATO, EU, UN and OSCE.

The Council also approved the program on transforming and equipping the Romanian Army by 2026.

All major political parties in Romania agreed last year that the country would spend 2% of its GDP each year for defense.
