PSD promises construction of republican hospital in Bucharest

The governing program of the Social-Democratic Party (PSD) on health policies includes the construction of a republican hospital in Bucharest with over 2,500 beds, 30 clinics, research centers, a campus with a school, a kindergarten, and a hotel with minimum 2,000 accommodation places for those accompanying the patients.

The program also includes the construction of eight regional hospitals, equipped with the latest technology, reports local News.ro.

Each regional hospital will have 1,000 beds, 10 clinics, a research center, and a residential area with homes for doctors and the hospital staff, and a hotel with minimum 50 accommodation places for those accompanying the patients. The costs amount to EUR 1.1 billion for the republican hospital and EUR 300 million for each regional one, which translates into a total investment of EUR 3.5 billion.

The governing program also provides the revamping of at least 15 county hospitals, 150 clinics, and 25 emergency sections. Moreover, every village should have an ambulance.

The new government also promised to cut the income tax for doctors to 0% and to double the nurses’ salaries. The doctors’ gross wages should go up to EUR 1,200 for a resident doctor and may reach EUR 3,600 for a primary emergency doctor starting January 1, next year.

The price of the innovative drugs that lost their patent will drop by minimum 35%, according to the plans of PSD. The research Cantacuzino Institute will be reopened and its activity will be expanded.
