Four Romanians shortlisted at World Photography Awards

Four Romanian photographers were shortlisted for the Sony World Photography awards, one of the most important photo competitions in the world. Vlad Eftenie, Bogdan Ivan and Roibu Grigore were shortlisted in the Open section, which is open to all photographers, and where the jury only takes into account a photography. Iringo Simon was shortlisted in the Youth section, in the Culture category. This was open to photographers below 20, and their photos are judged by the World Photography Organization.

Vlad Eftenie's picture is called First Snow (in opening picture), in the ow Light subsection, while Bogdn Ivan's is in the People sub-category, and called Ritratto di signora. Grigore Roibu's photo, in the panorama sub-section, is called Symmetry. Iringo Simon's shot in the Youth / Culture category is called Carnival. All pictures below in this article.

The winners in both categories will be announced on March 18, while the winners in the professional category and the L'Iris D'Or for the Photographer of the Year will be revealed on April 20 in London.

The grand winner of the L'Iris D'Or will get a USD 25,000 cash prize, and the Photographer of the Year will get USD 5,500, while all winners will receive Sony photo equipment.

Photographers from 166 countries sent around 140,000 photos in this competition, the biggest number in the seven years the competition has been running.

The selected photos will be exhibited at Somerset House in London between May 1 and 18, part of the Sony World Photography Exhibition.
