A food caravan blew at a fair in western Bucharest hurting 12 people, on Sunday, June 5. The blast took place in Valea Cascadelor, an area known for its many depots that sell construction materials and home decorations.

Eight people were taken to hospitals in Bucharest, one of whom was in serious condition as he suffered burns on more than 60% of his body. The other four people injured were groomed on site.

The explosion took place at around 1:00 PM. A fire apparently broke at a food caravan and gas cylinder exploded because of the fire. The caravan had four gas cylinders but three of them were removed before the blast, according to representatives of the local authorities.

The food caravans don’t currently need fire safety authorization from the Emergency Situations Unit (ISU).
