Romanian SocDem leader unhappy with foreign ambassadors

01 September 2017

The leader of Romania’s Social Democratic Party (PSD) and speaker of the Deputies Chamber Liviu Dragnea said he was worried that some foreign ambassadors dare to deny Romania the right to start a debate on the Justice Laws.

“Next, they will deny us the right to think,” Dragnea was quoted as saying.

His reaction comes after the US Embassy to Romania issued a statement expressing its concern about the proposals to change the Justice Laws recently announced by justice minister Tudorel Toader.

“I am also concerned about ambassadors who go to ministers every day to promote the interests of foreign companies. Who knows, maybe someone thinks that this also means corruption. Because if you went to a minister to promote a company’s interests, you would have a problem,” Dreagnea said.
