Romania’s spa resorts need EUR 1 bln investments

08 September 2015

Romania’s spas and health resorts require investments of over EUR 1 billion, said Nicu Radulescu, president of the employers' organization of spa tourism in Romania (OPTBR). The money for investments should come from the private sector, but also from the state budget, according to Radulescu.

“The money could come from European funds, own sources, the budgets of local and county councils,” Radulescu added, cited by local Mediafax.

The investments involve restoring the old hotels, but also equipping them with modern spa and wellness facilities. The spa resort Baile Herculane especially needs large investments, as it is the oldest resort in Romania, but also in an advanced state of decay.
