Romania’s average net wage goes up in July

The average net wage in Romania reached almost EUR 418 in July, up by 1.7% compared to June.

The highest value was recorded in the crude oil and natural gas extraction, where employees made an average EUR 1,100 net, whereas the lowest value was in hotels and restaurants, with little over EUR 245.

In most economic sectors, the net average earning was higher than the previous month. The most significant increases in the average net salary were recorded in the pharma production, with 14.2%, and in the other mining and quarrying activities, with 14.1%. The average net wage dropped by more than 10% in the computer manufacturing segment.

Compared to July 2014, the average net wage increased by 7.6% in nominal terms and by 9.4% in real terms, as the lower VAT rate on food increased the purchasing power.
