British comedians Mark Nicholas and Simon Elmore will perform their MusiComedy act in four shows in Bucharest this week. The first show will start on Thursday, October 21, at 22,00 hours at the Silver Church Club (61 Calea Plevnei), followed by a gig at Cafe Deco on October 22 from 23,30 hours

Oil and gas company Petrom has signed with Canadian company PetroSantander, which will undertake investments and perform services on behalf of Petrom in nine fields in the Arad area. This is the second such contract signed by Petrom, after recently partnering HuntOil in drilling in Eastern Romania. The partnership with PetroSantander will increase production by 50 percent in the fields in the next five years.

Three Kenyan runners won the Bucharest City Marathon which took place in Bucharest on Sunday, October 17. Duncan Koech came first in the race, followed by James Cheruiyot and by John Maluni Katio on the third position. The women race was won by a runner from Belarus, Svietlana Konhan.

A photo exhibition titled 'In Search of the Lost Bucharest' will take place on Wednesday, October 20, from 17,30 hours, at the Fabrica Club (50, 11 Iunie Street). European Commission President Jose Manuel Barosso (in picture) will arrive in Romanian capital Bucharest, on November 8, to attend the third summit on the Danube Strategy. Barosso will attend, along with officials in fourteen Danube countries, the last summit on the EU Strategy for the Danube Region before the final adoption of the strategy by the European Commission, on December 8.

Two expats have joined the Penny Market management board. Frank Wagner is the company's new general manager for Romania, replacing Marcel Thiele, who had been running the company for the last four years. Frank Wagner was promoted from the Chief Operational Officer position.

The Hungarian President Pal Schmitt will be on an official visit to Romania on Monday and Tuesday, at the invitation of his Romanian counterpart Traian Basescu. Official talks between the two heads of State, followed by a joint press conference, will take place at the Cotroceni Palace on Monday.

French pianist Lorène de Ratuld will play in Bucharest on October 26 at the Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest, starting 19,00 hours. She will interpret pieces of Debussy, Ravel and Beffa in her Bucharest concert. She will also hold concerts in Iasi on October 27, 28 and 29.
