Kogainon Films, a US-based media production company set up by film director Nicholas Dimancescu (in picture), plans to continue a series of documentaries focusing on Romania, after having released two documentaries about Romania in the world wars. The production company will release a documentary about Romanian ancestors Dacians and Romans, hoping to bring a fresh story line which would change the old fashion view of Romanians' ancestors, Nicholas Dimancescu tells Romania-Insider.com.
Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc has said that construction works on the Transylvania Highway will continue this year on two sectors, namely Gilau-Nadaselu and Suplacu de Barcau. Boc said money from the state budget has been earmarked to pay off debts to American company Bechtel, the constructor of the Transylvania Highway.
Romania was visited by 7.5 million foreigners last year, a drop of 1 percent compared to the year before. Most of these visitors came from European Union countries- 59.4 percent, according to data from the National Statistics Institute.

US magazine Wired has recently published a piece about cyber crime in Romania and about a network of online scammers stemming from the city of Ramnicu Valcea. The magazine has sent its reporter Yudhijit Bhattacharjee to investigate the story on site in Romania and report about the people said to be involved in the online scamming chain. Bhattacharjee has also talked to two police officers who investigate the network.
The Egyptian army has sent a hidden message to president Hosni Mubarak (in picture), suggesting they would back up street protesters in the country, said one of the protesters: 'We loved you 30 years ago. We don't want to humiliate you. We don't want you to end like [Romanian president] Nicolae Ceausescu. Go in peace,” said the Egyptian protester, quoted by The Guardian.
The Czech Center of Bucharest will organize a mute film festival called “No silence, please”, which will feature screenings of early cinema masterpieces , accompanied by live music. The program will begin at 20,00 hours on Thursday, February 3, with the Czech movie “Extas” made in 1933 by director Gustav Machatý - the world’s first film that contains a nudity scene. The film will be accompanied by a live guitar performance from Hanno Hofer, Nightloosers band leader.
Google has recently launched the Hotpot service, allowing users in 38 countries, including Romania, to see recommendations for restaurants, hotels and coffee shops, based on other users' feedback.
Romanian company Televoice, which owns the Evolio brand, will launch in February this year a PC tablet called EvoTab, running on the Android operating system, the company has announced. The tablet can be pre-ordered form the producer's website . It will become available in retail chains from February 15, at a price of RON 750 (around EUR 176).
