Telekom Romania fires one-third of its managers

Telekom Romania will fire 205 out of a total number of 600 managers as part of its restructuring process, sources from the group’s trade union told Profit.ro.

At the beginning of this year, the telecom operator had about 700 managers, 100 of whom have already left the group.

The group has now decided to fire another 156 managers from the former Romtelecom, 45 managers from Cosmote and another four managers from Germanos and Sunlight. Besides this, about 200 people who are in managing positions will go through an evaluation process.

The reorganization process will be completed by the end of June this year and the new management structures will be operational from July 1.

German group Deutsche Telekom is active in Romania through Telekom Romania Communications, the former landline phone operator Romtelecom, and Telekom Romania Mobile Communications, the former mobile phone operator Cosmote. In Romania, the turnover of the Telekom group has steadily declined in recent years, going under EUR 1 billion, and the profit margin is the lowest one in the whole Deutsche Telekom group.
