Romanian Adrian Botan, one of the best-known advertising specialists in Central & Eastern Europe, has been promoted to the role of Global Executive Creative Director of McCann for its worldwide Nestle account, the group announced on Monday, October 20.

“Botan joins three other Global Executive Creative Directors—James Dawson-Hollis, Bill Wright and John Mescall—in developing great creative work for the agency's largest global clients,” McCann announced.

Adrian Botan will continue to serve as Creative Chairman of McCann Bucharest, the group’s local subsidiary. He served as Creative Partner at McCann Bucharest and was the first creative director to bring a Cannes Grand Prix to Central & Eastern Europe, according to McCann. In 2011, McCann Bucharest won two Grand Prix Lions for the Romanian chocolate bar ROM campaign.

In addition, as VP Creative Excellence for McCann Erickson Central & Eastern Europe (CEE), he helped lead McCann CEE to win back-to-back "Network Agency of the Year" recognition at the 2013 and 2014 Golden Drum Awards.

Some of McCann’s best known campaigns in recent years have been those for the ROM chocolate bar and for mobile phone operator Vodafone, one of McCann’s global clients. It was McCann’s creatives who invented “ciobanul Ghita – Ghita the shepherd”, one of the most popular ad characters launched in recent years in Romania.

"Adrian is one of our smartest, most innovative creative thinkers," said Rob Reilly, Global Creative Chairman of McCann Worldgroup. "All of his work shows his special ability to create the most creative work for his biggest clients, which is the reason we are bringing him on to our global creative leadership team. I cannot wait to see what Adrian does next. That's the best compliment I can give to a fellow creative," Reilly added.

McCann Worldgroup is a leading global marketing services company with 23,000 employees in more than 120 countries. It is part of the Interpublic Group which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and has a market capitalization of USD 7.36 billion (as of October 21, 2014).
