French retailer Carrefour will open a new hypermarket in Bucharest, within the Colloseum shopping center in the Romanian capital city in September this year. This will be Carrefour's eight hypermarket in Bucharest and the 24th in the country.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has granted a EUR 10 million loan to Raiffeisen Bank Romania to fuel energy efficiency projects for local companies.

Romanian MP Liana Dumitrescu died Thursday morning at the Elias emergency hospital in Bucharest of a rare brain disease, sources in the hospital said. She was 38.

Private equity fund Innova Capital has acquired a 96 percent share package in Provus Services provider and in its Romanian subsidiary RomCard from Turkven Private Equity and a consortium of Turkish investors. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
