Flu-related deaths increase in Romania
One recent case has pushed the number of flu-related deaths in Romania this season to 80, according to March 5 data from the National Center for the Supervision and Control of Transmissible Diseases (CNSCBT).
The latest person to have died was an 80-year-old man from Bucharest. He had preexisting medical conditions and had not been vaccinated against the flu.
Romania’s health minister explained at the end of February that a flu epidemic cannot be declared since the number of deaths is below the level predicted by specialists.
