US Ambassador Gitenstein: Romanians can buy a piece of America

The US Ambassador to Romania Mark Gitenstein joked that Romanians can now buy a piece of America, after the shares of five American companies started trading on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) on Wednesday afternoon (April 18 ). “There was a controversy that Western companies want to buy Romania, but now, after the shares of five of the biggest American companies are trading in Bucharest, Romanians can buy a piece of America,” said Mark Gitenstein.

The shares of Apple, Intel, Visa, Coca Cola and Bank of America are floating on the Bucharest Stock exchange starting today, daily from 16:30 Romania time, until 18:30, when both the BVB and the American stock markets are open. Tradeville was market maker for these shares.

Reference prices for these shares were RON 2,030 for Apple shares (some EUR 470), RON 94.7 for an Intel share (or some EUR 21), RON 29.7 per share of Bank of America (around EUR 6.7), RON 246 for a Coca-Cola share (some EUR 56.2) and RON 406 for Visa shares (or EUR 92).
