Three Romanian movies screened at East by Southeast film festival in Copenhagen

Three Romanian movies will be screened at the East by Southeast film festival, which takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The event’s lineup includes award-winning Romanian film Aferim! directed by Radu Jude, The Treasure/Comoara directed by Corneliu Porumboiu, and Ana Lungu’s Self-portrait of a dutiful daughtherAutoportretul unei fete cuminti. The movies will be screened in Romanian with English subtitles.

Aferim! brought Radu Jude a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in February this year, while The Treasure won a special prize at Cannes festival – Un Certain Talent, within the Un Certain Regard section.

This year’s edition of the festival also features productions from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, Poland, Russia and Hungary, reports local Agerpres. The event starts on October 16.

Romania’s participation is supported by the collaboration between the Romanian Embassy in Copenhagen, the Danish Institute for Cinematography and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm.
