Seven in ten young Romanians feel marginalized

Seven in ten (71%) young Romanians aged 16-31 feel marginalized in their own country, according to a Eurobarometer commissioned by the European Parliament.

At EU level, 57% of the young people feel marginalized, reports local Euractiv.ro.

In 20 member states, an absolute majority of respondents say that they feel excluded. Greece records the highest ratio, of 93%. In Germany, however, only 27% of the young people feel marginalized.

Only 15% of the European young people wish to leave their country on average. In Romania the percentage is double compared to the EU average, with about 34% of the young respondents saying that they would like to leave the country.

Some 61% of the EU youth don’t want to study or work abroad. In Romania’s case, only 51% of the young people say that they don’t want to study or work in another country.
