Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, the current number 3 in the WTA ranking of the best women tennis players in the world, reached one million likes on her official Facebook page in just three months.

Simona Halep launched her official Facebook page on August 7 and gathered almost 450,000 fans in the first day.

Halep is the most popular Romanian sports star on the social network. She is followed by former Romanian footballer Gheorghe Hagi, who has 552,000 fans, and by Romanian football striker Ciprian Marica, with 368,000 fans.

The most popular tennis players on Facebook are Russian Maria Sharapova, who has almost 15 million fans, Spanish Rafael Nadal, who has 14.8 million fans and Swiss Roger Federer, with 14.7 million fans.

Simona Halep is currently in the race for the WTA October Player of the Month award, which will be announced on Friday, November 7.
