Romanian PM dismisses head of National Customs Authority

Romanian Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu dismissed yesterday Dorel Fronea, the head of the National Customs Authority, reports local Profit.ro.

The management was temporarily taken over by Marin-Marius Florea, the new coordinator of the Anti-Fraud Department.

Fronea was the deputy president of Romania’s Tax Authority (ANAF) and was responsible of the National Customs Authority. Two months ago, he told Profit.ro that he had been announced that he would be laid off. He explained that the decision was a political one.

Following the dismissal, Fronea will return to the Ministry of Regional Development, where he is a civil servant.

The Anti-Fraud Department has been led by Marin-Marius Florea since March. Florea is a former manager within the Giurgiu County Finance Department.
