Romanian nuclear power producer increases net profit by 11%

Romanian electricity producer Nuclearelectrica, which operates the country's nuclear power plant in Cernavoda, posted in the first quarter of the year a net profit of EUR 7.7 million, up 11% year-on-year.

The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization went up by a quarter year-on-year, reaching EUR 35.9 million.

Its total revenues amounted in the first three months of the year to EUR 105 million, down from EUR 103.5 million in the first quarter of 2014.

About EUR 98.7 million came from the sale of electricity and EUR 6.3 million from the energy transport.

Nuclearelectrica’s operating expenses reached EUR 99.1 million in the first quarter of 2015. The company generates about 20% of Romania’s total electricity production.
