Heavy snowfall last night ( Wednesday 25 ) has blocked routes in and out Bucharest. The situation isn't rosier in the rest of the country. Highways and national roads have been closed due to the heavy snow and wind. It snowed all night and meteorologists warned the Code Orange for blizzard will continue until this afternoon (Thursday, January 26). Flights at both Otopeni and Baneasa airports in the capital city have been canceled.

In Bucharest, commuters should expect delays in public transport and crowds at the metro - the only public transport unaffected by the blizzard. By law, store owners and block owners associations are supposed to clean the sidewalk in front of their store or their block, and can face a fine for failing to do so.

Later update: Over 100 national roads were closed, over 20 trains  and more than 16 flights were canceled due to the snowfall, while some buses in Bucharest run on alternative tracks.
