Romania women's handball team qualifies for World Championship 2017

Romania’s national women’s handball team qualified on Tuesday, June 13, for the World Championships 2017 after defeating Austria 33-24 (11-13) in the second phase of the play-offs. The match took place in Stockerau, Austria.

This is the 23rd consecutive time when Romania participates at the World Championships, being the only team in the world that has been present at all the World Women's Handball Championships.

In the home match, which was organized in Oradea, the Romanian team won with the score 34-29 (17-16). Thus, with a general score of 67-53, the women’s handball team qualified for the World Championships 2017, which will take place in Germany from December 1 to December 17.

So far, the teams confirmed for the World Championship 2017 are Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, France, Sweden, and Romania from Europe, Korea, Japan, and China from Asia, and Angola, Tunisia, and Cameroon from Africa.
