Romanian state employees could have April 30 free this year, to tag the May 1 public holiday onto a weekend. The Romanian Government will decide next week whether to grant the extra free day by law this year.

The country's Tourism Ministry supports this option, as the four free days - Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (the latter May 1) will bring more travel opportunities in the country.

Around 25,000 Romanian tourists are expected at the country's seaside on the May 1 mini-holiday this year. Mamaia, Eforie Nord, Neptun and Vama Veche seaside resorts will be some of the most sought after spots on the seaside, which is traditionally considered 'officially' open at the beginning of May.

May 1 is a public holiday in Romania, in celebration of Labor Day.
