Romania officially opens Delta pavilion at World Fair in South Korea

14 May 2012

Romania’s pavilion at the World Fair in Yeosu, South Korea, themed around the Danube Delta, officially opened last week-end. The Romanian pavilion includes Kinect applications that allow the visitor to discover and interact with dance, music and costumes specific to the Delta, with Romanian pottery and traditional crafts and footage of the Danube Delta and Dobrogea area in 3D.

Romania's main theme is part of the overall theme of Expo 2012- “The Living Ocean and Coast: Diversity of Resources and Sustainable Activities.”

The concept of Romania’s participation at Expo 2012 Yeosu mainly highlights the unique ecological importance of the Danube Delta and its protected areas. The Danube River, along with the Black Sea and the Carpathian mountains, is one of the major components of the landscape of the country, defining Romania's place on the European continent.
