The 2019 budget planning will be delayed for several weeks and will most likely enter the public debate in Parliament towards the end of the month.

At the end of 2018, the coalition formed by the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) announced that the budget draft would be ready in January and adopted in an extraordinary session of Parliament.

"It is not ready, there are problems in various ministries, and the calculations are not final," unofficial sources within the ruling coalition told Hotnews.ro.

At the earliest, the budget planning will enter public debates on January 25. The chances for an extraordinary session of the Parliament (which is in recess until the end of this month) are slim, sources said.

Initially, at the level of the Coalition, the budget was expected to enter into public debate at the beginning of January.
