PM asks for analysis on how Romania could face a quake

30 August 2016

Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos yesterday urged the Interior Ministry and the Regional Development Ministry to prepare an analysis on how Romania is prepared to face a disaster similar to that produced in Italy.

The two ministries should present their report in two weeks. The Government needs to know what measures have already been taken, and what is necessary for the future.

Ciolos mentioned that some steps have been taken after the tragedy at Colectiv which killed 64 people and wounded tens of people. These measures need to be made public, Ciolos added.

The Prime Minister reminded that the Development Ministry has an analysis of the buildings that present the highest risks in the case of a quake.
