PayPoint encouraged by slight profits in Romania

English retail payment services network PayPoint said Romanians made 5 million bill payments with their company between 26 September 2011 and 26 December 2011, 53 percent more than the same period in 2010.  The recent announcement also described the small profit made during the quarter as 'encouraging'.

The company also reported on the increased network of  Western Union money transfer points, which was launched as their first retail service. There are now 6,600 Western Union transaction points in Romania.

PayPoint reported overall processed transactions of 183 million during the last six months of 2011, up 13 percent compared to 162 million for the same period the previous year.  Revenues of GBP 52.6 million were up 3 percent on the same period the year before.
