The National Audiovisual Council (CNA) has voted several changes to the regulations for the audiovisual content aired in Romania, on Wednesday, September 14.

One of the changes is that advertisers will no longer be allowed to use children in food commercials, reports local News.ro.

The ads for food supplements will also have to follow stricter rules. Such ads shouldn’t make viewers believe that food supplements have similar effects to drugs and can heal incurable diseases, according to CNA representatives.

The audiovisual watchdog also decided to add more public interest messages to be broadcast on local TV stations. Thus, besides warnings to avoid excess consumption of salt, sugar, and fats, and the recommendation to drink minimum two liters of fluids per day, viewers will also be informed that parents should spent as much time as possible with their children, and that breastfeeding is important in the child’s first year of life.
