Materials library for creatives gets online crowdfunding

06 July 2017

A planned library of various materials for startups and independent designers has raised some EUR 18,700 on a crowdfunding platform in Romania, from 211 backers.

The campaign started on Startarium on May 20, and became the biggest local crowdfunding campaign.

The Mater team initiated the project. They have been working since December 2016 on organizing a former industrial hall of 1,000 sqm into a library, an events hall and a co-working space for creative industries, mainly architects and designers. The organizers plan to turn it into a landmark in Bucharest and in the region both for professionals, and for the academia.

With 3,000 exhibited materials, the library is due to open in October 2017 in the former Cotton Industry platform at 160 Splaiul Unirii in Bucharest.

The amount raised via crowdfunding will help build the 30 display modules. Banca Transilvania, Holcim Romania, and Saint Gobain are among the supporters for this project.
