Justice laws enter rapid procedure in Romanian Senate

18 December 2017

The laws of justice are entering today an accelerated debate and vote procedure in the Senate, and it is possible that all three projects will be approved by Wednesday or Thursday.

The special committee led by the controversial former justice minister Florin Iordache will draft the reports for these laws for the Senate debate.

The Senate Standing Bureau approved Thursday an accelerated procedure for debating the laws of justice. The MPs were able to submit any amendments to the law on the organization of the judiciary and on the functioning of the Superior Magistracy Council (CSM) until this morning (Monday morning) at 9am.

The special committee led by Iordache needs to draft a report in maximum 24 hours, until Tuesday morning at 9 am.

The Chamber of Deputies approved all the three laws of justice last week.
