08 May 2015

The increasing use of bikes both as alternatives to cars and for entertainment purposes has opened new markets in Romania. Not only have bike sales been going up in recent years, but bike computer sales are on the rise too.

Based on a 400,000 bycicle units sales estimate for 2015 in Romania, Mio Technology hopes than more and more bikers will buy the bike computers they are selling.

Mio, which is better known for its car GPS devices, started selling bike computers in Romania five months ago. The company hopes to sell 2,000 such devices in the country this year.

“The bike computer market has great potential. Based on our estimations, some 400,000 bikes will sell in Romania this year. We expect that many bikers will also acquire such a device. Our forecast for the Cyclo brand stays at about 2,000 units in the next year,” said Cosmin Dobranis, country director with Mio for Romania and Hungary.

Bike computers record time, speed, distance, calories burns and tracks, based on the integrated GPS.
