French Film Festival returns with new edition in Romania this autumn

10 October 2014

The 18th edition of the French Film Festival will be organized in eight Romanian cities between October 31 and November 9. The event will take place in Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Timisoara, Sibiu, Buzau, Targu-Mures, Constanta and Bucharest.

This year’s theme will be "Burlesque in cinematography. From past to present" and the guest of honor is French comedian and filmmaker Pierre Etaix, according to a statement of the French Institute, cited by local Mediafax.

The retrospective dedicated to Etaix will include eight of his films, namely The Suitor/Le Soupirant (1962), Yoyo (1964), Tant qu'on a la santé (1966), The Great Love/Le grand amour (1969), Land of Milk and Honey/Pays de Cocagne (1971), Rupture (1961), Happy Anniversary/Heureux anniversaire (1962) and En pleine forme.

In 2013, for the first time in the festival’s history, the public was invited to vote for their favorite movie. Following last year’s success, young directors will again compete this year in the contest in which the audience will decide the winner.
