Film night to keep Romania's cities awake with the best in local cinema

11 September 2012

The Romanian Film All-Nighter will screen some of Radu Muntean and Alexandru Solomon's most successful productions. Most of the movies were awarded at international festivals and gained positive reviews from film magazines around the world.

The viewers will be able to watch seven movies, including Radu Muntean’s first movie “Lindenfeld” (1994) as well as “The Sweet Bread of Exile” (2002) directed by Alexandru Solomon.

The festival (Noaptea Alba a Filmului Romanesc) is on the night of the 14th of September and will take place in Bucharest, Iasi, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara. Another event included in the festival is the celebration of the Visual Arts Foundation, which marks its 20th anniversary. So far, the Foundation has produced more than 80 video and film projects, including experimental movies, fiction, documentaries and multimedia projects.

In addition, the Romanian Film Night will present the first interactive movie ever made in Romania, “Kiddo”, directed by Millo Simulov. “Kiddo” tells the story of a young teenager and her difficult life journey starting from a broken home and ending in the boxing ring. Her fate will be decided many times according to the public’s vote.

Also, the organizers plan to show several Romanian animated films, which were presented last year at the Anim’est International Animation Film Festival.

In addition, one of the most anticipated comedy movies of the year, “Of Snails and Men” starring Monica Barladeanu (Dean) and Andi Vasluianu will premiere on the 14th of September.

The Romanian movie marathon also includes Radu Jude’s “Everybody in our family” which won the best movie award at the Sarajevo Film Festival as well as Adrian Sitaru’s “Best intentions” which won two trophies at the Locarno Film Festival.

The Romanian Film Night will also include several documentary films, such as “8th of March” (directed by Alex Belc) or Anca Hirte’s “Theodora the Sinner”.

The event is organized by the Association for Romanian Film Promotion.
