Chitila Film Festival to showcase Romanian talent end August

14 August 2012

The Chitila Film Festival, a national competition for documentary films and short fiction films and cartoons, dedicated to Romanian directors, will be running between August 31 and September 2 at Chitila Lake, just outside Bucharest. The festival is now in its second year and submissions can be made up until tomorrow, August 15.

The competition is open to all - students, graduates of faculties and directors and people in the industry. The jury will choose the finalists to appear at the festival by August 15.

The contest runs over the first two days of the festival, while the final day will be reserved for the awards. Five short fiction films and five documentaries will be nominated for the final competition.

The short films must less be than 20 minutes long and subtitled in English if the dialogue is in a language other than Romanian or English.

The films will be shown on a giant screen on the shores of Chitila lake, the only lily reservation in Southern Romania.

"Chitila Film Fest is an initiative that puts our city on the cultural map and opens new opportunities for film enthusiasts. In Chitila we have an audience that appreciates the art of cinema, and this festival is a form of advocacy that meets all requirements for an exceptional cultural event," said mayor of Chitila, Emilian Oprea.

More details of the event can be found on the official site in Romanian http://chitilafilmfest.ro/. The transport is free from the 1 Mai metro station.
