Chinese rapidity: Basketball with Romania's flag colours produced and sent to Romania for PM within one day

29 November 2013

Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, who was recently on an official visit to Romania to attend the China – Eastern Europe summit in Bucharest, showed proof of Chinese efficiency and rapidity with his gift to Romania's PM.

Li Keqiang, who saw in the Romanian PM's office a basketball signed by Romanian player Ghita Muresan, ordered a special basketball from China, instead of the traditional Chinese object he had brought as a gift. The next day, the Romanian – flag coloured basketball was already in Romania, and the Chinese PM handed it over to his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta.

Ponta told this story on a Romanian TV station following the Chinese delegation's departure after a three-day stay in Romania. 'On Tuesday they called the basketballs factory in China, they produced a ball with Romania's flag colours, which arrived in Bucharest on Wednesday and which I received as a gift,” said the Romanian PM.

In return, he gave the Chinese PM a 'huge' basket of Romanian traditional products, as well as a copy of Romanian ruler Stefan cel Mare's sword (Stephen the Great).
