Austrian named at the helm of Romania's state airline Tarom

Austrian Heinrich Vystoupil, the former head of Austrian Airlines in Romania and Moldova, is the new general manager of Romanian state – owned airline Tarom. Dan Pascariu, president of UniCredit Tiriac Bank, is also president of the board with Tarom. The new namings are part of the Private CEO program for state – owned companies in Romania, which recently started and which should continue with other state companies over the following months.

Earlier in October, Dumitru Prunariu, Dan Pascariu, Lucian Isar and Marius Ghenea were named as new members of Tarom's Administration Council. Dumitru Prunariu is a retired astronaut, Dan Pascariu is a banker, president of the council with UniCredit Tiriac Bank, Lucian Isar is the former Minister for Business and Marius Ghenea is an entrepreneur. The new management is tasked with increasing Tarom's profitability. Tarom posted a loss of EUR 79 million in 2010 and EUR 58 million in 2011, its fourth loss year in a row.

Heinrich Vystoupil previously worked with Lufthansa Consulting, Qatar Airways and UPC, after leaving Austrian Airlines.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure asked PwC, D & B David Baias-George Butunoiu to recruit senior management for companies under the authority of the Ministry with a turnover of less than EUR 7.3 million.

The consultants interviewed over 1,000 people for the 54 positions of managers and of the short list of 319 candidates. The majority are Romanian citizens, from the private sector.

CFR SA (CFR Infrastructure), CFR, Tarom, CNADNR, Metrorex, Bucharest Airports, Maritime Ports Administration Constanta Maritime Ports Administration, Timisoara International Airport "Traian Vuia" and Telecommunications CFR are also included in the Private CEO plan.
