Insurer Allianz named Austrian Remi Vrignaud general manager for the Romanian subsidiary Allianz Tiriac, replacing Rangam Bir, who will have a management position in the group's Singapore division.

The 36-year old Vrignaud will take over the helm of the local insurer in August this year, when Bir will end his two-year mandate in Romania.

Allianz Tiriac ranks second among general insurers in Romania, with subscribed premiums of EUR 190 million in 2011, down 13 percent on 2010, when it posted a loss and lost first spot on the local insurance market.

Allianz Tiriac is majority owned by Allianz New Europe – 52 percent, and Romanian businessman Ion Tiriac, with 44.5 percent through an offshore.
