Venice Carnival to include concert dedicated to Romanian composer

This year’s edition of Carnival of Venice will also feature a concert dedicated to well-known Romanian composer George Enescu.

Violinist Vlad Maistorovici and pianist Diana Ionescu will go on stage and play works signed by George Enescu, Arcangelo Corelli and Ernest Chausson, according to a statement of the Romanian Cultural Institute INS in Venice.

The event is called ENESCU 60 – Enescu: l’amore in sepia and will take place on February 14, at Ateneo Veneto in Venice. Find more about it here.

Violinist Vlad Maistorovici is a winner of Tillett Trust and Young Concert Artist Trust international competitions. He had numerous appearances as a soloist on some of the greatest stages in the UK, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Romania, Russia, Israel and the U.S. He also played with several ensembles, such as the European Union Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra in Lusanne, South Bank Simfonia of London and Bucharest Radio Chamber Orchestra.

Pianist Diana Ionescu is the “Ambassador of Romanian culture abroad” and was awarded for her contribution to the Romanian-British relations. She is considered one of the most charming performers of her generation.
