Tickets for the Romania vs. Finland football match almost sold out

07 October 2015

Romania’s national football team play their penultimate Euro 2016 qualifier against Finland tomorrow at 21:45 at the National Arena. More than 50,000 fans are expected to cheer for Romania at this decisive match.

Demand is extremely high and almost all regular online tickets, priced at 20 RON (4.5 EUR), have been booked within 24 hours of going on sale. Only a few hundred tickets were still available on the booking site bilete.frf.ro. However, many fans complained that they didn't get the tickets and that their bookings have been cancelled, as the system had glitches due to the high number of users that have accessed it at the same time.

The match, which is Romania’s last Euro 2016 qualifying match at home, was initially supposed to be played behind closed doors until a couple of days ago when a crowd ban imposed by UEFA (for violent behaviour by fans at the Romania-Hungary match) was overturned.

Diehard fans who want to see Romania’s final qualifying match on Sunday evening will have to fly to the Faroe Islands. Tickets for that match, held in Tórshavn, are currently available online for 62 RON (14 EUR).

Romania are currently 2nd in qualifying group F, three points ahead of 3rd place Hungary and just one point behind group leaders Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland are also in action against Greece on Thursday night so Romanian fans will be hoping that group underachievers Greece can cause an upset. Romania can go top of the group with a win if Northern Ireland fails to win their match, essentially sealing qualification for the team’s first European Championship since 2008.
