Runners from 40 countries to join Bucharest International Half Marathon

This year’s edition of OMV Petrom Bucharest International Half Marathon is expected to attract some 10,000 participants, more than the 8,000 registered last year, according to estimations of Bucharest Running Club Association, the organizer of the event.

“So far, the number of registrations for the half marathon is higher than in the same period last year. We have runners from over 40 countries,” said Valeria Răcilă van Groningen, president of Bucharest Runners Club Association.

The event will be organized on May 16 and May 17, the start point being the Constitutiei Square in the capital.

The 21.097-km half marathon race will be organized on Sunday, May 17. Runners can also compete in the 10-km race, the relay and the popular race, organized in the same day.

Children competitions will be organized on May 16, based on age categories. The event will trigger traffic restrictions in the area. More about it here.
