Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu proposed economy minister Alexandru Petrescu for the position of interim minister for business environment, commerce, and entrepreneurship.

The proposal came after Florin Jianu, the former minister for business environment, resigned from the Government on Thursday, as he didn’t share the cabinet’s decision to adopt the emergency ordinance that changes the criminal law and the way the cabinet made this decision.

Jianu wrote in a Facebook post that he decided to resign for his child. “What will I tell her over years? Will I tell her that her dad was a coward and vouched actions he didn’t share or that he chose to get out with his head held high from a story that isn’t his?!”

The Prime Minister sent his proposal to President Klaus Iohannis, according to a statement from the Romanian Government.

Economy minister Alexadru Petrescu is the former general manager of the Romanian Post. Before that, he worked for several financial institutions in London.
